version numbers are mostly just for fun and do not follow any real set of rules. if pressed, I would say significant changes to the site's appearance are most likely to prompt an addition to this page, but it honestly comes down to whether or not I feel like it
version 1: made with sadgrl's layout builder. not much to say about this one, it wasn't much more than a landing and about page... I don't think I even had any blog posts up. technically, I had other designs I experimented with before settling on this one for a while, but this was the first time I felt like my site was real. it was persona 3 themed because I had just finished portable, and I think the grid pattern for the background was lifted from the ancient official promo site, which was linked in that banner on the side.
version 2: this was a heavily doctored version of kalechips' fun with flexbox layout. sadly, I still think it's the cutest my site has ever been. I kinda miss it and can see myself recycling aspects of the design in future iterations if I ever feel like making it look nice again, but v3 is so plain because that makes it less daunting to work on for whatever reason. I really like how strong the ocean theming was here and I think this color palette will probably return eventually.
version 3: this one lasted a whopping three weeks before I decided I was sick of it. I will say the actual layout of the site (currently) has not really changed, and I'm still using the same code. like I said, I think v2 is still my nicest looking layout, so I'm sure v3 might seem like kind of a downgrade since it's so simple. but I did this on purpose--I figured if my website looked a little shittier maybe I wouldn't get caught up trying to make every new page super polished and presentable. I often get the urge to do away with my stylesheet entirely, and just post to a white background in times new roman. but I haven't quite reached that point yet.
