nightmarefish v3 is here! it's been a while. this isn't really a proper blog post, just some disconnected notes about the update:
first, the site's "rating" has been raised to MA. I have already requested removal from the Transing the Internet and Wii webrings to comply with their rules about adult content, but unfortunately it'll probably be a while before I receive a response. I think for the most part it'll still be pretty tame (no explicit images, same as before), but I'm doing this for a few reasons. my site was always meant to cater to me, but it took me a while to figure out what I actually wanted that to look like. so I just focused on making it look nice, and as a result it kinda got more traffic than I would have liked? as of making this post I have almost 55k views. I have noooo idea why, because I've always been a massive deadbeat. but thankfully I've had my Neocities profile turned off since I made an account, so I don't have any followers to scare off lmao. I guess I just want to establish that from now on I plan to talk about fandom-related stuff here more. I am also someone who really enjoys bittersweet/depressing/stomach-churning stories and I want to be able to discuss them without feeling like I have to watch my mouth.
this seems like a good time to introduce my new fic recs page. the dead dove button at the top is intended more as a warning to read the tags on each entry thoroughly than a statement about what kind of content you'll find there. although there is a lot of slimy gay body horror. Anyway there are a ton of other fics I would really love to put on the list, but I try to reread all the ones I bookmarked a long time ago to make sure they hold up and some of them are extremely long. I didn't want to put off the site update any longer, so I finally just decided to add them as I get to them. T_T
about the new layout: I actually was picking at a different one for months, decided I hated it when it was like 90% done, and pulled this one out of my ass instead. it's a lot simpler than v2 and this is, to some degree, by design. I guess my thought process here is that if the site isn't as interesting to look at I have a lower chance of jumpscaring passersby who have no idea what yaoi is ???
I added a bunch of new fanlistings to the homepage too, but tbh I have not signed up for all of them and I'm not sure I ever will. as far as I know there aren't any rules against using them like fridge magnets. also, no dark mode this time. sorry. I'll figure out how to reimplement it sometime soon.
what I've been up to recently: I finished my gen ed classes and transferred to a new college. I recovered my FGO account and have just started playing lostbelt 1. I went to ANYC with friends and had a lovely time, although the con itself was underwhelming. my current goal is to read more visual novels. I have completed hatoful boyfriend, the house in fata morgana, and virche evermore. please send me recommendations (kinoko nasu's entire discography is already on the list).
